Special Message to our Members...
Dear members of Oro Valley Amateur Radio Club (OVARC);
I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone good health during these trying times. Although it is difficult to “shelter in place” day after day, and despite the fact that all of our meetings and most "events" are being cancelled SHORT TERM, I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone how LUCKY and BLESSED we are, as the majority of us are still healthy. As Amateur Radio Operators, we have the additional benefit of being able to be in virtually CONSTANT CONTACT with our fellow Hams, locally and AROUND THE WORLD. In fact, this COVID-19 event may see a record amount of activity in the Ham radio realm, and due to this series of events, we also have the perfect REAL-WORLD opportunity to practice and test our EMCOMMS (Emergency Communications) and equipment.
Rest assured that the leadership of OVARC will continue to closely monitor the situation, and as restrictions are eased, we will be very active once again with meetings and events. In the interim, the best way to stay informed of OVARC activities is to check HERE on our Web Site and also on its Calendar page. We will do our best to keep the information there up to date and relevant in the coming weeks/months.
Finally, I encourage all of our members to participate in the weekly OVARC Sunday Fusion Net at 8:00 PM. Besides just “checking in”, we encourage you to tell us what you’ve been doing when the call for “what’s up” goes out during the Nets' operations. Also remember to send Ron, W7HD, your stories and articles for the OVARC monthly newsletter! We are also holding the monthly Membership Meetings online via "Zoom" until normal meetings can resume.
Now more than ever, we need to COMMUNICATE VIA RADIO. Let us hear you LIGHT UP THE AIRWAVES out there!
All the best, 73,
Mike Peterson — K7VTT — (OVARC V.P. & WebMaster)
